our little November baby is a…
the day we found out
If I’m being entirely honest, I totally thought we were having a boy. Our 20-week ultrasound was a blur of emotion, Jordan was caught up at work, a friend of mine sweetly stopped what she was doing (you’re the best, ana) to come watch Ruby, but was pulled over on the way. I waited there for everyone to arrive while fighting back tears.
Thankfully they were kind and still let us in despite the 30-minute delay. And the ultrasound tech who was very efficient and working quickly to make up for lost time was not the most enthusiastic. His statement I believe was, “Well, I don’t see any boy parts.” “So… that means we’re having a girl?” we responded.
Once the anxiety and craziness dissipated I calmed down and was able to wrap my mind around having another girl. In the heat of the moment, I may have blamed Jordan for his lack of emotion that God was teaching him by surrounding him with women. I know the truth is that he’s going to be a fine papa of his girls and he does well with my hormonal breakdowns. I mean, the man took me shopping afterward, picked out the fanciest double stroller, and took us out for pizza and gelato at Pastaria to celebrate.
We are beyond excited to have another little girl in the family. Hearing Ruby say, “baby sister” gives me the sweetest visions of the two of them growing together. I love the idea of sisters and am so happy for Ruby to have a little buddy in the house. I think she will be more than excited to be the one in charge for once 🙂 So, watch out baby sister.
And this one is a mover. In our ultrasound, I could clearly see this girl kicking in the womb. I have been able to feel her movements since 16 weeks! And big movements too, it’s crazy! I realized why when I could see her on the ultrasound kicking back her legs and producing the biggest horse kicks. I’m thinking she’s going to stand up to her big sister just fine.
Oh, we’re so ready to meet you, little girl.
