Ruby experienced the ocean for the very first time while we were in Europe. It was one of those magical moments of childhood wonder that’s a beauty to witness. She absolutely loved it even though the water was quite chilly.
One of the days we were visiting Paris we decided to rent a car and drive out to Normandy. It was a fun adventure driving through the French countryside. And it was amazing to see the coast. I’m so glad we came out this way because I now have such a richer perspective on the war. I can’t wait to share some of the other sites we visited, but Ruby meeting the ocean for the first time was by far my favorite.
Her papa loved it as well. He’s the best at making these moments extra special. He’s so good at being present and engaging in the moment. And I’m over here behind the camera like, I want to remember this forever! Sometimes I know I need to be better about engaging as well, but I sure do love capturing these two in photographs.
at first, Ruby discovered the sand and that war pretty interesting.
and then the water caught her eye…
and she ran right to the ocean
her gaze, that stance, those toes in the sand…
notice what happens when papa’s back is turned…
I have so many photos from the rest of our day in Normandy ready to share. I’ll have to do it when Jordan’s around to help me get the information correct.
