say hello to our little pearl,
margot june louise
born 03 december 2017
7 pounds, 15 ounces
19 inches long
A week ago we welcomed this little girl to the world. I prayed for a sweet and calm baby, and she came out and announced her presence. She sounds like a baby lion, loud and strong. When she’s not roaring like a lion, she is incredibly calm and relaxed.
She remained nameless for a few days. We needed to meet her, to get to know her. For some reason deciding on a name felt so big. Maybe it’s knowing how children grow and change. How will we know if this name will fit her for the years to come? We decided on the French name, Margot, which means pearl, to go along with her sister, Ruby. June for my dear grandmother. And Louise to commemorate our time here in St. Louis.
We’re settling into life as a family of four, and it’s so much sweeter than I imagined. I’ve teared up a couple time because everything seems so perfect. A couple nights ago Jordan was dancing with Ruby to Christmas music as Margot snoozed by the Christmas tree. I love how newborns slow down your pace and help you enjoy these moments. It’s not always so easy, but I loved this past week at home with my little family. It’s a wonderful time to stay cozy inside and huddle in close.
I have some journals to share with you, a last 40 week update, Margot’s birth story, and my first week postpartum. So, look for those this week. And please ignore all of the typos and errors, I did it all through voice to text. 🙂
