baby no. 02
26 March 2017
4 weeks, 6 days
I wrote quite a bit about this time in our announcement, but knowing how fast pregnancy goes, I really want to document well this time around. Unlike the first go, I’m actually taking bump photos and I’m excited about it. I’m not being strategic, just being intentional to get in front of the camera every now and then. The photos in this post are closer to about 5 weeks in, obviously not showing at all, but I wish I had a photo like this with Ruby. The beginning is the sweetest part.
baby is the size of a
fleur de sel (salt crystal) — I’m using a pregnancy app called ovia, I loved it the first time around and a friend pointed out that you can change the size updates to french pastries!
how i’m feeling
At this point, I was still recovering from a bad virus and was already sick for 4 weeks. I had also been struggling with all sorts of health problems this year. I had a freak-out moment when I realized my due date was late November and that I would probably never feel like myself in 2017. (My first pregnancy was very difficult and I felt sick majority of the time) I scheduled a doctor appointment for the following week to try to kick the cold before pregnancy symptoms really started.
maternity clothes
no need yet, but already thinking ahead about creating a solid wardrobe for this pregnancy. I’ll be pregnant throughout several seasons, so it’s going to be tricky!
food cravings
no cravings yet, but Jordan did go grocery shopping after I told him I was pregnant. He picked up all the things I craved with Ruby, chocolate milk, ice cream, chocolate chip pancakes. The funny thing is that he did it without really thinking about it.
how i’m nesting
all the lists are compiling in my head now and cozy dreams of a winter baby.
how is ruby taking it all in?
my first baby, she has no idea. we haven’t fully tried to explain it to her, I think she might be able to understand better when I start showing.
weight gain & self-image
this pregnancy, I really want to focus on maintaining a healthy and slow weight gain. i gained more than i would have liked with my first pregnancy. i know it was a big part of keeping me from feeling my best and also made me feel not like myself. it took a long time to lose all of the weight making for a rough postpartum time. this time around i’m monitoring a little more closely and trying my best to stay in tune with what my body actually needs.
There’s really not too much to talk about this time around, I really wanted to set up the format for these posts and hope to get all of them updated and also start sharing current updates. I plan on adding more questions as I get further along in my pregnancy. So, let me know if there are any you would like me to add!
