28 weeks, 3 days
Hello, third trimester you snuck up on me! I know that the last few months of pregnancy can get very difficult. I’m going to try my best to keep a positive attitude and enjoy the fall and a lighter schedule at least until 36 weeks. Jordan will be working like crazy at that point, so I will let myself indulge in complaining and ice cream at that point. 🙂

how i’m feeling
For now being in the third trimester, I’m feeling great! I’m actually very surprised by my overall health. Currently no nausea or headaches, which I’m happy about since those affect me the most. Still that annoying sciatic nerve pain, but we’re kind of like friends now, I can almost forget about it until I stand up.
I’ve fully recovered from whatever I had going on in August. I think I had a stomach bug that lasted for a week, and then after resting so much, my body was just aching from the immobility. I’ve been trying to be more active lately, and we leave for South Carolina soon, so I think that will help. My goal is to soak up this time and enjoy the next month or so as much as I possibly can!
One weird symptom I’ve been having is blurred vision. I did get a headache the other day and pulled out my old glasses and it went away. I got my eyes checked for the first time in years and my prescription didn’t change at all, so I think it’s just a weird pregnancy thing.
maternity swimsuits are the worst. I’ve been able to avoid getting one for most of the summer and squeeze into my normal suits. But, alas, I am too big and I just can’t risk ruining my favorite suits. I ordered a bunch from online and found one I liked. It’s a struggle to find a supportive swimsuit and I hated paying full price for something that I’ll probably only wear for a week.
I’m at the point now where I’m pretty much only fitting into maternity clothes. I loaned out a lot of my clothes from when I was pregnant with Ruby, so I’ve had to start fresh again. I grabbed some essentials for the summer, like some shorts and t-shirts. The nice thing about not teaching this time around is that I don’t need as much.
I also have been pretty impressed with a number of non-maternity items I’ve been able to find, like this dress I’m wearing in these photos from a local boutique. It fit perfectly before I was even showing, so hopefully, if I don’t stretch it out too much, it will be able to stick around in my closet!
Oh man, my diet has gone downhill since I was sick in August. We’ve been eating out a lot and I just started giving in to all of my cravings. We tried potty training Ruby and have a bunch of m&m’s in the house and I have been totally snacking on them in the afternoon. I’m also into anything that deals with carbs and cheese.
weight gain & self-image
I’m getting realllly close to my target wait for this pregnancy. I’ve now gained a little over 20 pounds and only wanted to gain the lower end of the recommended weight of 25 pounds. And heading into a week of vacation is probably not the best way to remedy that, haha. I also just feel like when I’m pregnant the weight just seems to pile on, especially if I’m not eating well.
But, lately, I’ve been feeling a lot better about myself in general. I had this big growth period around 24 weeks where I just suddenly became very pregnant out of almost nowhere. I’m thankful to be feeling more confident now in my own (new) body.
Sorry for getting all out of order on these posts! I forgot all about this one living in the drafts waiting on photos. Here are the rest of the pregnancy update posts I have up:
