37 weeks

37 weeks, 5 days
While last week was a good week, this one was much more challenging. It was by far one of Jordan’s busiest weeks this year. They built a new hospital and moved over the weekend in the middle of his 10 day stretch of no days off. It wasn’t the easiest of transitions and it made for some long days.
If something could go wrong or not work smoothly, it did, it was almost expected by the middle of the week. My week was really busy, and one day alone I had three appointments, 2 dr and one to tour the hospital and for preadmission At my doctor appointment, we discovered baby was still breech and flipping around easily. And then midweek my phone died the day Jordan worked his 28-hour call shift. It was of course right after the day I decided to trade it in, so now I’m out of the trade-in value of my phone. Later that evening I tried to bring Jordan dinner, which was a disaster. Just getting there alone and grabbing dinner without a phone was tough (it was rush hour, there was an accident, they didn’t have what he asked for) When we finally got there, we just wanted to see him and at that moment he was dealing with a code, but we had no way to communicate. Ruby and I hung out in the brand new hospital lobby and I broke out in tears while she smeared cream cheese on the new couches. We were able to see him for a minute before needing to leave. At the old hospital, it wouldn’t have taken as long and we would have been able to go right up to his call room and have a place to hang out.
I reread through that last paragraph, and part of me just wanted to erase it and simply right that it was a tough week. I’m going to keep it though because while I want to remember the bright moments, I also don’t want you to see these smiley photos us and think we have it all together. We don’t, at all. This month has been hard, but we’re still looking for joy when we can, and soaking up our little moments together.
And the week wasn’t all bad, there were some bright spots. Ruby and I found the golden lama at World Market and won 50 dollars! & we also won two google home minis at the cutest popup event. Our home is now filled with either the Lumineers station or Christmas music. I also got some good time with friends this week, which is always nice and necessary when Jordan works long hours.
And then finally, this weekend my parents visited and Jordan and I were able to go on a date Saturday and a family day Sunday. We met up with some friends to snag these photos before dinner with some of our favorites. Thanks, Dillon and Skyla!
These family photos are quite appropriate for this bump update this week because we have all been in it together.
Now, I’ll get to the normal bump update with some more scoop on my latest doctor visit.

how I’m feeling
Exhausted. This week was so exhausting and I sort of feel like I’m sleepwalking. I’m mentally and physically strained while also not sleeping well. As I’m writing this at the very end of 37 weeks, I’m still feeling tired even after a full nights rest.
And even though I know that we’re getting close, like real close. Baby could realistically come anytime now, I still can’t fully wrap my mind around it. I still have yet to pack a hospital bag, the to do list is still forever long, and we still haven’t picked a name.
This last month has been more difficult than I imagined and we’ve been mostly focused on surviving. I’m so, so glad that Jordan has started a new rotation and we actually have a real weekend ahead. So, just maybe I can start focusing on this little one.
pregnancy symptoms
Still all the same ones over here, just all seem to be getting worse. Restless leg is terrible. I started taking magnesium and iron, which seemed to help at first, but it’s bothering me a lot more lately. Even in the afternoons. I basically can’t stop moving. And moving hurts, because my hips are stretching out like crazy. Thank goodness for doctors and adjustments. Sunday night after dinner, my friend’s husband (a colleague of Jordan’s) did some omt, thanks, Dylan! I woke up without a limp!
how were nesting
I feel like I need to write we because nesting lately is a group effort. Lately, I’ve been online shopping trying to find the best deals for last minute things we need. We finally ordered a car seat for this babe after being so indecisive. And this weekend we did some more rearranging. I think we’ve officially rearranged every room in the house this summer. Everything is mostly done except for the very final touches. Because I apparently am allergic to finishing and completing projects.
I’ll promise you now, that I will share these spaces next week. So, now I have to hang the last pieces of artwork.
Maternity Clothing
Give me all of the cardigans. I’ve been loving this c/o Pinkblush cardigan lately with this amazing fall weather. I like that this cardigan has a little extra fabric in the front that I will be able to cover with for nursing a newborn soon. I’m so excited to go through the postpartum season in the winter purely for cardigan season.
Now that I’ve reached the nine-month mark, I have been rotating the same few outfits. I’m a big fan of this combo a comfy t-shirt and cardigan, I still feel put together, but also comfy.
ALSO, in the very back of our attic closet, I found the missing bin of newborn clothes and maternity clothes. While I’m sad I didn’t have some of the maternity clothes a lot sooner, I’m appreciating the extra t-shirts.
OB appointment update
I had my 37-week appointment pretty soon after my 36 week where baby was finally head down. My doctor still decided to do an ultrasound just to check on anything. Little girl moved back to a breech position. While she was doing the ultrasound my doctor pressed very lightly on her head and she easily flipped head down. It was very bizarre and I could tell that she was actually a little shocked as well. She checked my fluid levels and everything looked fine, we just have a gymnast on our hands.
So, we had more conversations of inductions and possible c-sections and what to do if baby is still continuing to flip. She talked about possibly inducing early so that I start labor knowing she’s head down. I’m hoping she stays head down because I am not ready to have a baby in a week, and over Thanksgiving!
weight-gain and self-image
I managed to sneak out of getting my weight at this last appointment. With my last one being so close, she didn’t worry about it this time. So, I’m still going off my last weigh-in and I’m feeling pretty good! I wanted to note again that my reason for documenting my weight this time around is to be more self-aware. I want to be conscious of staying within the healthy boundaries my doctor placed for me. I also know that it can be a sore subject for many people, but it’s important to talk about.
Many women are encouraged to “take it easy” and to “eat for two” and let’s not forget that the baby really wants ice cream or pizza. These aren’t terrible things, but instead, we should encourage mamas to listen to their bodies and to take care of themselves and baby. Obviously, in a kind and caring way, there can be too much of any one side for sure. But, can we just agree to find a healthy middle ground? We have the do whatever you want and the crazy don’t ever drink coffee and run a marathon, people. Let’s find the eat some carrots and a bowl of ice cream and take a walk, people. Where are you?
Sorry for that tangent, but if you’re still reading this, then you’re obviously my friend. (Please don’t judge my late night ramblings, typos, and run-on sentences)
I have a doctor appointment this Thursday, so I will keep you updated.
